Week 11 Weigh-In

As I mentioned yesterday - totally DREADING weigh-in today.  Becuase I KNEW the tears would flow when the scale said I gained weight...

I get to Emily and step on the scale...telling her this won't be good.

And then she frowns...shakes her head and writes the number down...

And I almost start to cry and she says, "Well clearly you did alright-YOU LOST 3.2 POUNDS!"

Shut the door lady!!?!! Is your scale broken?  Seriously...3.2 pounds?  Um...thanks stress.

I got my 10% keychain today!! Which means I have lost 10 percent of my starting weight - and I'm now at 181.2 pounds!!

I think I love this keychain more than HSSH.  Maybe.  It's shiny and copper and I heart it BIG!

Ah...this day was awesome.

Falling Down the Rabbit Hole

As my friend Mandy would say "I fell of the wagon and then proceeded to eat the horse."

It will be a MIRACLE of MIRACLES if I have not gained weight tomorrow.  I have not worked out in four days - FOUR.  AHHHHH...

And I've eaten a ton of junk.

Well and one amazing lunch from Christopher's in College Station.  Shrimp and grits and an audouille, mushroom cream sauce.  Oh my heavens I understand shrimp and grits - I LOVE shrimp and grits.

Should I mention the chocolate cake filled with melted chocolate fudge?  Probably not.  My boss made me do it, and she ate half.  Thank you Jesus.

Then there was a family emergency.  A huge one.  The biggest one there ever has been.  And I split to the hometown.  And I ate perfeclty and worked out on Thursday.

Then on Friday...Oh...I cleaned for 5 plus hours and ate way less than I was supposed to...good job me.  A happy face for Friday.

Saturday.   I threw down on a plate of migas for breakfast/lunch.
Dinner was fajitas.

Should I tell you about the margarita machine and that swear to God I drank a gallon of rum marg's?

I really ought not.  But did I mention famil emergency?  Stress, etc.??  Did I??

Sunday...yeessh.  A day of rest.  Ate a tiny bit of chinease food for lunch, then THREW down on some red beans and rice, french fries, a biscut and fried chicken from popeyes.  I know, I know...bad girl, nonononono.

Monday...a plate of BBQ ribs, pinto's and green beans - not a bad lunch.  Lots of protien.
Ha.  Then I had a "broken spoke" which consisted of funnel cake fingers and a scoop of vanilla blue bell and chocolate syrup.  BURP.  Sorry, thighs.
Red barron pizza for dinner....

I'm hoping beyond hope that the stress and the nervous energy has kept the weight off and that I didn't gain and that I MIGHT have lost the .4 lbs necessary to get to the 10% goal.

Am I hopeful for this?  No.  Why?  I'm eating a 5 course meal and Johnny Carino's tonight.

Crap in a bucket this week went down the toilet for me.

Better luck this week.

HSSH is on a boat.  In the Gulf.  I am worried.

Week Ten (last week)

Everyone - sorry for my absence.

Last week I lost another 1.4 pounds for a total of 19.6 - so close to the 20 lb mark and having lost 10 percent of my starting weight - at which point I'll get a keychain!! Yeah!!!!

Pure Exhaustion & Krispy Kreme

Hello Everyone...

I'm quite tired today.  And my back hurts...ugh.  After an 8 hour workday I'll grab a bite to eat then head over to campus to put in at least two hours of work on my final paper...then home to run 10 miles...shower, etc.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

No HSSH this weekend...sad.

Instead I was a co-hostess for HSSH's sister-in-law's baby shower.  I made the decorations and several dips -I finally got to play with the red Kitchen Aid food processor that I got for my birthday...

I made crostini's out of 4 loafs of french bread - toasted with olive oil, sea salt and feshly ground pepper - the pepper is the secret...amazing.  But bad for me so I only had a few...

I also made a !fat free! cream cheese, smoked salmon and caper dip with a little butter and lemon mixed in.  Basically everything you would assemble onto a crostini all mixed together in an easy spread.

Then I made a !fat free! cream cheese dip that inlcuded garlic, chives, marjoram, oregano and fresh lemon juice.

These both tasted great with the crostini's.  I also made my signature dip of drained and rinsed black beans, H.E.B. pico de gallo, drained and rinsed whole kernel corn, various seasonings and lime juice - this is quite healthy - till you start digging into it with a bazzillion Frito's scoops...(10 scoops = 3 pts).  I did snack at the shower - but not too much.  I didn't feel all that guilty about it - came home and had a Red Barron French Bread Pizza - at 8 points a pizza its a bit much but soooo good!

Everyone love the diaper cake, banner and food that I made for the shower - it was a fantastic time and I can't wait to meet the little guy in late October.  Best of all I made HSSH mom take home ALL of the food I made so there would be NO temptations at home for me.

I only ran three miles Friday and none on Saturday - I got back from Huntsville & the shower at 6pm and cleaned house and did laundry till midnight.  Sunday morning I got up and ran 7 miles - and danced while running on the elliptical becuase I was watching Dirty Dancing...

One of my favorite scenes...Hey Sylvia, Yes Mickey?  How do you call your lover boy?

I LOVE that movie...RIP Patrick Swayze...Anyways its a wonder that I didn't fall off the elliptical as I gyrated along with the music although there was a close call when I nearly put my flailing arm into the ceiling fan...oh well.  I never said I was coordinated - or that I could dance.  Feeling great after my run I went out to my grandparents house in Somerville...

And my aunt - who is also doing Weight Watchers - showed up with Krisy Kreme donuts imported from San Antonio.  What a  &%$^#.  Seriosuly...Krispy Freaking Kreme...6 pts a donut.  And I ate two.  Shoot me.  They were flipping awesome - even if they weren't hot.  It happens.

I had a BBQ sandwhich on whole wheat bread as a late afternoon meal and then snacked on fritos, a slice of cheese and 1/2 cup of fat free re-fried beans that night.

Today, I've had a WW chocolate shake and I'm thinking Pei Wei for dinner :) Lettuce Wraps are 5 pts (minus the crispy noodles) and the sauce is 2 pts.

Beginning Week 9

Well, despite the fact that I ate the ten point cookie yesterday...and it was good...

I lost 2.2 pounds this week!! I got another 5lb star sticker for my bookmark - which marks 15 lbs...

My total weight loss?  16.8lbs!!  I am on my way to the 20lb mark and I will be THRILLED to say I've lost 20 lbs.  We have 8 more weeks to go on the program & I am hopeful that I will be able to lose an additional 15 before it is over.  I'd like to be between 150 & 160 - which means I would need to lose a total of 40-45 lbs, total...but I am confident!

I am contemplating re-upping in the program becuase I want to stay on track over the DREADED holidays...divorced parents and my boyfriends huge family make for about 7 Thanksgivings and Christmases...which is tasty but packs on the pounds.  The plan?  EXERCISE.  I even bought a winter work out top at Old Navy yesterday...in a LARGE.  Yippie!

This weekend it should be relativley easy to stay on Target - the only pitfall will be a baby shower on Saturday...but I can manage.

Until next time!

The Free Cookie Dilemma

Yesterday was one of those days.  Those days were NOTHING in the world seems right and you want to get on the first plane out of town and never look back.  Its too bad that all the planes leaving my town go to Houston...

Anyways.  I lost it.  I did not, as Betheney Frankle of the Real Housewives of New York says, "check myself before I wrecked myself."

I went straight to Popeyes and ate THREE biscuts, 2 drumsticks and the chicken nugget that came in the chicken biscut.  And them my stomach and insides revolted against the trash I put in my body.  Nuff Said.

But I ran my ten miles and had a small filet of flounder, 1/2 cup of fat free refriend beans and 2 slices of polenta with a tblsp of queso from World Market.

Today I feel better.  I'm going to get an outfit for a baby shower I am helping host this weekend.  I am also going to be working on my paper so I wanted a big lunch to keep my full till well past dinner time.  I ordered a PotBelly chicken sandwhich on skinny wheat (12 pts - cheese, pickles, seasoning - I know 12 is a lot but this lunch is 1/2 of my daily allotment of 25 so I went with it.) with a bowl of their 1 pt vegtable soup - which is only avaiable on Tuesday.  This soup is PHENOMENAL.  For 1 pt!  Thank you to Pot Belly for having detailed nutritional information on their website.

Well...there was a slight hitch in my plan.  My lunch was almost an hour late, 50 starving minutes.  Well....
They gave me a free oatmeal chocolate chip, soft cookie.

Lord have mercy...too the nutritional info...

OMG this cookie is 10 points...now its a rather large cookie.

I am working alone.  There is no one to give this too.  And I can't throw it away.  That would be wrong, starving children and what not.  I'm thinking I'm going to eat it...and run A LOT tonight.

But weigh-in is tomorrow...

What is a girl to do???

P.S. Weekend update:  I ate really healthy this past weekend - only one bad meal ;)  We iceskated on Saturday and it was great! :)

Week 8 Weigh-In

Well....its Wednesday...that means WEIGH-IN....

I was worried.

I took off all my jewels and shoes when I weighed...BUT

I lost 1.2 lbs for a total of 14.6 pounds!  I am SO close to 15! I can't wait!!

We are a little shy of the halfway point and I would LOVE to have lost 30 pounds by mid Novemember!!  And 40 lbs by the end of the year...I could start 2010 off as a whole new person!

The Labor of the Labor Day Weekend

Oh this weekend was bliss.

HSSH called me on the way home Friday and said "we can't have Migas in the morning, we are going to my nephews football games in Cuero."

Um, HSSH I don't love you any more.  Just kidding.  Probably.

I was soooo good on Friday night...didn't eat lunch cause I was on the road - had a small grilled chicken breast for dinner with tons of roasted squash and carrots...well and some cheesy bowtie pasta.  Sue me.  Its that darn Velveeta again.  But a totally succssful weekend day!  And I walked up and down the road = activity points for me!

Saturday - there is a DIVE gas station in Cureo, Texas (its the Get N Go by the courthouse.  They make the world's most insane breakfast tacos.  I mean these MIGHT be better than migas.  I love the carne guisada and the combo.  I get the CG and HSSH and I split a combo for like a million trillion, eleventy billion calories.  But NO, I went to Valero and got a fruit cup and poor HSSH got a subpar breakfast taco.  I love you HSSH for not tempting me with the devil's tacos.  Good man.

Then we watched the little ones play football - a hoot and a half I tell you...Then subway for lunch!  Healthy AGAIN!  Oh so on track...then onto float in the river....and I may or may not have downed an entire bottle of Yellowtail Pino Grigio.  Whoops.  And I most likley pee'd in the river.  A lot.

And I may have been tipsy at dinner.  And I may have eaten A TON of fajita steak.  But I only had 2 tortillas and I only topped them with HOMEADE pico de gallo - lover of my soul.  YUMMY...But if all I gorged on was lean protien, well give me a break.  Oh yeah..the wine....14 pts...my bad.

Sunday morning we went and had migas.  And I had a whole plate to myself.  Bite me.  I took a nap when we got home and got up at 9 - walked and jogged the road and tossed the football with HSSH littlest nephew.  Then I halued a 200 ft hose around for a few hours helping to build fence.  Activity points...I also threw those little newphews all over in the pool for about an hour...lots of activity today...skipped lunch and for dinner I had ham, black-eyed peas and a stick of cornbread...pretty darn healthy dinner. Oh happy day!

Monday was Labor day - and I visited the grandparents and had a few homeade tea cakes to top of 2 pieces of whole wheat toast with Meyhaw Jelly and 1/2 of oatmeal.

For lunch it was miso soup and a lobster roll at a sushi place with my mom.  Then I lounged in the pool, afterwhich I bulit and repaired fence for several hours...

And that's when HSSH's mom decided it was time to eat at La Hacienda for dinner.  Um...well I couldn't resist the chips and green sauce, or the frozen marg...but um, hey I ate grilled shrimp tacos with corn tortillas....yeah I know its a stretch - what with the beans and rice.  Oh well.  Happy Labor Day!!

Then I got up at 6 am the next morning and hightailed it back to College Station for work at 9am.  The day's sustiance consisted of a HUGE pomegrante smoothie from Jamba Juice, to soothe my raw and swollen tonsils...YUCK...and a subway sammich!

Hope you all had a happy holiday!

Shopping Spree

Well, as you know I'm headed home for the weekend...and I thought to myself, self head to Old Navy and see what they have...and they had A LOT!

Well, $120 later I left the store with:
 - 3 tanktops - black, grey and magenta

 - a pair of hot pink long john style pj pants

 - two applique tees - one navy with pink argyle and one green with cream flowers
(well it's like this but Navy and Pink)

 - a cute 3/4 length work shirt with blue and green dots all over it

 - a long sleeve long john shirt - navy with a PINK 56 on the boob, er...heart and New York City down the
sleeve.  56 was HSSH's football number - he called me a dork when I proudly proclaimed this...

 - long sleeve Halloween tee - with GLITTER...nuff said.  And yes I AM one of THOSE people who will
   wear holiday clothes...

And I am proud to say that I am no longer an extra - yuck - large anymore - ALL the tops I purchsed were just larges and fit perfectly - and I am hopeful they will be too big soon!!

Here's to Weekend Bliss

This weekend HSSH is forcing me to go home again.  Can't you see him twisting my arm?  He is super proud of my weight loss and so excited for me...I love that man.

I can't wait to get to Fordtran - the most relazxing, simple, blissful place on earth...

And where there is food a'plenty and flowing rivers of booze...I digress...

I'm looking forward to a weekend of activity - a Satuday morning workout, breakfast - I swear I'll photograph the Migas...I'm thinking about going for it and getting a whole plate...hahaha Bad girl, no. NO.

It's just so good...I can almost taste it.  Whoops - my mouth just watered.

We'll probably spend some time at the resivor if we can patch the leak in the saleboat (sheeting in on the ji is a great arm workout!) or at the river house - although the canoe man reports that the river is too low for a canoe trip...my heart sinks at this news - I'd love about a 7 hour long canoe trip down the Guadalupe - hello arms, would you like a workout?  Methinks you would.  But most likley it will be serveral hours of swimming in the river and jumping off the rope swing - hang onto your clothes and such.  And of course we'll make the rounds with the family...where my grandparents can tell me how fat I was (not that they are shinning becons of skinniness) and my grandmom, bless her heart, will tell me not to eat anything (but fill the hourse with friend chiken and offer me a rootbeer - on another note - I haven't had a soda, pop, coke, whatever in over 2 months) ...um...I think I got a handle on this diet thing grandmom - hello 13.4 pounds...

Hopefully I'll return with some great stories and be able to report that I don't fall off the wagon...too much.  But really - its not like booze is food . Don't you pee most of it out anyways...in the river...I kid. I kid.

Have a wonderful weekend - thanks for reading!

Thanks Work, Thanks....

I'm looking into corporate sponsorships for something at work...

Guess who I just spent an hour researching?

Dairy Queen & Whataburger

Sweet, 8 pound 5 ounce baby Jesus laying in your manager help me.

Now all I can think about are:

 - DQ - Chicken Strip Basket - This is more points than my daily allotment - a kids meal ain't too bad though

 - WAB - Honey.Butter.Chicken.Biscut - Um...again NO with the huge amt. of points

 - WAB Taquito - yeah, again NO sir...

 - DQ Heath Blizzard, or Chocolate Sundae...

Heaven help me...I just had a WW chocolate shake - which I normally like - and it tasted like dirt.  Why would it taste good when you want DQ soft serve?  Ahem, to be bathed in DQ soft serve.  Yep - And I just tempted all my readers too...sorry guys...I must suffer in solidarity...

I had 54 chocolate frosted mini wheats for 3 points.  Delicious - even without milk.  And only 3 points.  Why 54 you ask?  That is the serving size - why they couldn't measure that I have no idea...why I am a big enough freak to count them...well that is obvious.

If I remember I'll take a picture of my sushi tonight and post it! :)

Success!!

After two weeks of losing .4 & then .6 pounds I am OVER THE MOON to report that I lost 3.2 pounds this past week!  For a total of 13.4 pounds in the past 6 weeks!!  My dog weighs 11 pounds - its crazy to think I've lost a little over a poodle...

Can I get an AMEN??

We are starting a new campaign - Lose For Good.  Visit

http://www.weightwatchers.com/templates/marketing/Landing_1col_nonav.aspx?PageId=1151581

to find out more.  We'll be donating food to our local food bank.  I thought I'd take a momement to urge you to donate to your local food bank.  Its shameful that we have people, children espically, who go hungry right here in our OWN communities.  I have a real problem when people only look globally for charities when there are people who need your help in YOUR OWN community.

Are you trying to lose weight?  Well gather up all of your trigger foods and donate them to the foodbank - at the very least. Have a little extra money on hand?  Call the food bank up and ask them what they need at the moment.  One can of food costs less that $1.00 and can feed someone.  Less than $10 can often feed a family - help out if you can.  I know times are tough for everyone but no one should have to go hungry - if we all give a little it will add up to a lot.

I'm super excited that I lost weight this week - even though I ate some non-healthy things last weekend I made up for it in exercise - I can't wait to use this momentum to keep me going and hopefully next week I'll break the 15 pound mark and get another 5lb star for my bookmark!
Sushi and Wine with my wineo tonight...untile next time :)

Weigh-In

I'm fixing to head over to weight-in.

I am NERVOUS.

Please Lord let me have lost an entire pound...no more of this .whatever stuff anymore.  Mama needs RESULTS....

Not just inches of loss but pounds baby....nevermind the fact that I've almost lost an entire dress size...

P.S. I'll get fat again if it means the creepy mover guys in our building stop telling me Hi in the creepiest voices known to man....

Be back soon to keep you posted on how the weigh-in goes...

Thinking Light Thoughts :)

Ahem, Weekends = Bumpy Road

Hey Everyone!

Sorry it has been awhile.  I had a busy weekend in Victoria last weekend.

I went down for HSSH's mom's birthday and we had a blast.

Friday HSSH took me to dinner at the Olive Garden...now there is one dish that I get there - its called Grilled Chicken Spedinni (or something like that).  The whole dish is 8 points.  For several small chicken medalions, something they call Tuscan potatoes and a heaping helping so squash.  I can never eat it all and there is always more than half left...well...

The waiter comes over to take out order - I haven't even looked at the menu and I order the dish and he looks at me totally confused...I say it again...I open the menu so that I could point at it...and IT ISN'T THERE!  I tell HSSH to order as I panic...what the hell can I eat here???  Then I see it...Mixed Grill - its the same thing, so I order that - chicken only...crisis averted.

HSSH orders pepperoni pizza.  Ahem, excuse me HSSH...that looks delicious...can I steal a few bites?

Sweet mother of mercy that pizza was good.  I would boxed myself in with the menus in order not to stare at that pizza but then I thought that would be rude....to be fair I hadn't had anything to eat but ten fritos and some salsa - I am bad about eating when I travel.  So I had plenty of points to spare...I went for a breadstick...that is 3 points per breadstick people...I had two.  They were FAB-U-LOUS.

A side note...don't go foolin yourself thinkin you are all good and holy and go eatin the salad at the Olive Garden.  That delicious dressing?  It has 23 grams of fat for every thigh-widening serving.  Don't even let 'em put that bowl on your table. Just say no.  Or get the salad UNDRESSED and squeeze some lemons on it - you get the nutrients without the cottage cheese that is sure to crop up on your thighs later.

(I know right - and all this time you though that salad was a healthy choice - thanks a LOAD Olive Garden.)

So...HSSH decides we will get up at 7 (that is AM people) on SATURDAY to go for a walk/jog...Um, hello, not a morning person.  I get up at 8 on the weekdays.  Well we walk/jog the gravel road and back - .7 miles each way...two round trips.  Then we go have MIGAS.

(Out migas does not have cheese - or those potatoe things...and the tortillas...I'll take a photo next time)
(Can't you just smell them?)

MIGAS is the lover of my soul.  There is a dive in Victoria called El Rodeo.  It makes me happy.  Blissfully happy.  A trip home is not complete without the Migas...For all you folks who don't know what Migas is...

its scrambled eggs, with crispy bacon mixed in, with jalpaneos, onions, tomatoes and corn tortilla pieces...as if that isn't fattening enough you put it in a scratch made, BURNING hot flour tortilla and douse it in your pick of salsa...its 15 points for half a plate.

AND WORTH EVERY DARN POINT I TELL YOU!

HSSH and I met my mom, my nana, her husband and HSSH's little sis and boyfriend came along.  It was a family affair I tell you.  Well HSSH had to get another taco cause half a plate of Migas wouldn't do it for him.  If you ask him I ate over my fair share of half the Migas - but he lies.  Don't go believing him.  Then little sister gave me half a tortilla and a little Migas..I must have looked hungry still.  Then me and little sister's boyfriend nearly staged a revoloution when the waitress took our bottle of green sauce, WITHOUT ASKING...and gave it to someone else.  Them's fighting actions.  We made it outta there unscathed and I was on target.

Then we went a bought a TV for HSSH's mom for her birthday.  And I wanted to buy her a cake.

Onward to temptation island...a.k.a. Halepaska's bakery.  Now if you recall I didn't cheat on my birthday. I did not, I swear. There are witnessess.  Anways...this bakery has white cupcakes with chocolate icing and one side of the icing is smashed in those tiny, round, crunchy, colorful sprinkles and they come with some sort of plastic ring or do-dad in the middle.  I am pretty sure these cupcakes are my first memory of childhood.  They have been around forever and I have never found a better cupcake...not even at Sprinkles...

BLISS

Um...HSSH...since we worked out and all...do you think I could have a cupcake?  Um, please?  (Remember, I have to ask permission from someone these days)...HSSH gave me a REALLY hard time...and then I pouted.  And he laughed - 'cause he was jokin and all.  I got the cupcake.  And I ate it.

And God said, "It was good."

It was amazing, it made my soul soar.  See you can buy happiness.

So homeward bound we were - I didn't want any of the cake we bought - white icing and pineapple filling - YUCK.

So we tooled around in the pond with the aluminium boat and motor - then I used the oar...see activity points.  Then we swam...and then we snacked.  CRAPOLA.  Just because you eat more veggies that chips with your spinach dip doesnt mean that negates the calories of the spinach dip.

Then someone gave me a daquri - was it HSSH mom or dad?  It was both...Two daquris - aw crap...5 points a piece...I am doomed for this day.

I actually ate a healthy dinner - salad, a tiny baked potatoe, a small piece of sausage and the steak that HSSH rationed me...but then...be still my beating heart...homeade wine??  Three glassed later.

That day I got a frowny face in my tracking book.  Whoops...

Sunday - breakfast goes well - I track it :)  Then we visit my grandparents - I have a friend chicken leg...two points...still good.

We go home and wash and wax two vehicles - hello activity points thanks for erasing my chicken leg and bacon at breakfast...then HSSH makes me a steak sandwhich...1 piece of garlic french bread, 3 little pieces of steak and pickapeppa sauce...so good!
Then we swam some more - yea activity points!!!

And then I had to go back to College Station...hello Subway, my wagon loving lover - delicious.

Monday went great too - 10 mile elliptical run, tiny Subway kids meal for lunch and a bowl of 8 point tortialla soup from On the Border...YUMMY!
